Random thoughts on new PP structure

I really like the new party structure. I'm naturally a patient player, or so I'd rather play patient, and this structure lends itself nicely to it. I've been playing the $22's since I started up again last week. Nothing spectacular, just getting used to things. I'm up a bit, I haven't been inputing into PT but I suspect I'm a little over even this past week.

Been 2-tabling, but 4-tabled two sets today. Really feels good to be back playing again. Made me realize how much I enjoy poker. Todays stats...1/1/1/5. That's with split between $22's & $33's for a whopping $30 dollar profit today. HeHe.

Oh, Party deposited a nice $575 into my account for...who knows? It was listed as a Blackjack Bonus. But I stopped playing BJ 3-4 months ago. So, whatever, but it was nice. They've also got me on the acceler-8-or program. It sets target PP point totals on a weekly basis and gives me a bonus if I make it. If I reach 2710 points, I get a bonus of $110. I've got 57 points this week, haha. I've got to look a little closer, but it appears it'll be tough to reach that goal where I was at 4-tabling the $55's. We'll see.

Been awhile

Wow, it's been a long time since I posted. Haven't been lazy, just haven't been playing any poker. Been really busy with work and just haven't had any time. This, in fact, really irritates me cause I enjoy it. Also, I was making some good progress, I think.

Anyway, I played a couple of $22's last week, just to check out the new PP interface. Still not sure if I like it. The structure bugs me for some reason. I hated their structure before, but was used to it and knew how to maneuver. I suppose this will be okay in the long run. In the meantime, I'm getting killed. I think I'm like 3 for 15 since I started playing again

+$260

Played just two sets. Uneventful. Actually, it was pretty mindless tonight. Didn't think I played particularly well. Made some questionable moves. But, whatever. Things worked out.

I've been inconsistent on how much I play each night. I want to pick a specific number of sets and just play them. I've been kinda tired this week, so, I've been cutting out on high notes.

+$190 and no Tilt

Nothing thrilling tonight. Played 3 sets. I'm still think about playing one more, but I'm hungry, it's after 10 and I've got to get up early, so I'm leaning toward no.
But, I feel good about tonight because of how I reacted during my 1st two sets.

I had KK 6 times tonight. Lost four of them. In the early levels, 1-3, I play my big hands very aggressive. You have to, since even a standard 3-4 bb raise is so minor compared to everyone's stack. You'll get all sorts of callers and more than likely, won't know where you stand in a 5-way pot. Anyway, I usually only play AA,KK,QQ aggressive, and I'll limp w/ JJ,AK,AQ and dump most everything else in the early rounds.

So, tonight, most of my big hands came in the early rounds. With 10/15 blinds, I'm raising 8-10X's the bb, depending on position, who's in, who's left to act, etc. So, each time I did this tonight, I would get at least one caller. It's amazing what people will call with. I lost to A4s when he pushed his four to a flush after I had bet the pot on the flop. Caught his heart on the turn. Same w/ Q10. Flush on river. KK vs.QQ. Flush, I had no spade. It's surprising I came back. Most of the night was like this. But you know what? It didn't bother me one bit. I didn't get pissed. I didn't type any snyde remarks(I usually do). I just moved on to the next hand or table.

And sure enough, it all evened itself out. I realized that if I'm getting sucked out on, then I'm putting my money in with the right cards and making the right decisions. That's really all you can do. You're not gonna win every hand, you're not gonna win every hand you're supposed to. Think long term.

I should've cashed in the third game of set three, but I took a silly chance w/ second pair when I knew he had top pair. The fourth player would've been blinded out on the next hand. It was totally stupid, and cost me at least a 3rd. But, oh well.

+$210

Okay, played two sets tonight, but I'm not concentrating very well. Trying to watch the S.C.-Texas game. So, instead of trying to do both, I think I'll just watch the game. Traffic around here has been horrible today because of the game. I left work early just in case, but still got stuck.

Anyway, here's how tonight went.

1-2nd

(-$70)

2nd set:
2-1st

(+280)

Played okay, made a couple dumb plays. With a board of KK9, one other player checked to me. I had JJ and pushed. I had a feeling he had a K, but went ahead anyway. I was right, he had KQ. I sometimes like that play in that situation, cause most of the time, they won't have the set and have to lay it down. I think this was a bad one though, cause he called my late position 4 bet raise and I just knew. I've gotta let those ones go.

+$320

Pretty good night. Played 16-$55's in sets of four. I took the time to finish each set before beginning a new one. Helped me focus a little better. Usually, I'll just keep a continuous four tables open. I think I like this a bit better. Also, took a few minutes between each set to review my play. That made a difference. Reinforced the good things and made me remember the moronic things. Can't seem to eliminate them.

Let's see, what else. The fourth set was really tight in 3 of the 4 games. There were six left with the blinds at 200/400 in one of them. With Party only starting with 1000 chips, extreme push or fold. It never fails to amaze me how most will defer to aggression. The key for me is to know when to rein it in.

For example, one game tonight we are on the bubble (4 left). I have 4000+ chips, everyone else at ~2000. Everyone is super tight and my aggression got me to this point. Now, I'm UTG w/ 98s. Stop Chris! This is -EV. But I raise 3bb. Short stack pushes for another 2.5 bets and I'm committed, so I call. His QQ hold and I'm average again. A couple loose/bad calls and I'm out 3 hands later. I was so fn pissed. With Party's structure, I think it's ok to fold to this reraise. PROTECT YOUR STACK.

+$200 day

Man, played a lot today for a measly $200. Played 37 $55's and a couple $215's and basically broke even.
I'm playing way too much. I get stale and my game is definitely affected. After the 40 and my spectacular results, I went downstairs, had a brownie and some milk and decided to play 1 set of $215's. That's my brilliant idea again, struggle at the lower limits and move-up.

Anyway, I finished w/ 2 2nd's. Not bad, made a dumb push in one and went card dead in the other and pretty much blinded away on the bubble in the other. So, pretty tired, end of vacation. Gotta go back to work tomorrow (crap).

With work starting up I'll probably get in 8-12 a night after work. I'm thinking of just jumping to the $215's from here on out. I'll sleep on it.
